Politics
Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber. - Plato
My husband and I have discussed this at length over the years....Plato says it much better. We have referred to this problem as the rubber chicken circuit. Indeed, who would want to be out every night eating bad banquet food and listening/giving the same awful speech composed of perfect sound bites? Our system of politics winnows out the reasonable, thoughtful and sensitive people by its very nature. Fund raising and media dominated campaigning require that a candidate has an iron stomach and a thick skin....maybe not the best requirements for a leader.
